I cannot express how happy I am that this community exists. This is just too cool! The very first video game I played was OOT, it made me think that I wanted to make something just as awesome someday. It's been my creative drive through school, right up into college! I've had some map development experience in the past with Unreal Editor, and would love to start learning how to make my own maps for OOT. I'm more on the design end rather than the hacking/code writing end, but that will change when I have more time to invest into learning a language or two. Could someone point me in the direction of some noob-friendly map related tutorials? I've been going through what I can find and just sticking my hands into everything, but I'm mainly interested in learning the basics of map extraction, creation, and insertion into ROMs. Any advice for a beginner like myself would be very much appreciated, as I am excited to learn all about it! |

for people that ignore you, its not that they dont care, its just that they are busy. as for the extaction and insertion, there are tools but most of that could be done in a hex editor, but i still recomend the zelda resource extractor for extracting and a hex editor for placeing it back in the rom. for help with the hex editing ask a fellow member

Welcome to Maco, it is nice to see someone who is so enthusiastic about Zelda hacking. I recommend that you check out SanguinettiMods' youtube channel, he has some tutorials which should be easy enough to follow. |

Thanks for the welcome, guys! Once this weekend rolls around I'll likely start asking more specific questions... for now, lurking and school work. |
