Welcome to Maco!

Welcome to Maco!

Maco is a modding community geared mostly towards the modification of the Nintendo 64 Zelda games: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. We are currently in the process of getting more people involved in modifying those games and posting their work here, so we have a few tools available on our downloads page and our "Zelda Modding Software" forum to help you get started. Feel free to post any questions you have on the "Zelda Modding Questions" forum. Anyone who is able to contribute is welcome to contribute to any of our projects that they wish.

If you decide to register, please get familiar with the rules to ensure your stay is a pleasant one. If you like, introduce yourself so we can get to know you! Once again, welcome to our community and we hope you get creative and enjoy everything we have to offer!

Goodbye.

A lot has happened in my personal life these past three months and it has made it hard for me to do anything. I know i didn't do anything worth talking about on here but it was nice being able to help you all in the position i took as moderator. It's been fun but now it's time to move on with this part of my life and onto something new.

New Theme: ZSO

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Apr 28 2014, 03:58 PM. 7 comments

For all of the ZSO legendaries that are around, a new theme has been created that is reminiscent of the theme from the days of Zelda's Secret Ocarina. From the drop-down menu next to "Choose a theme", select the "ZSO" theme. B-)

The "Maco Classic" and "OoT 2D" themes are still around for those who want to use them.

OoT 3D Files and Forum Update

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Apr 28 2014, 12:58 AM. 0 comments

Cheers to xdaniel for writing an epic .dae exporter for the OoT 3D files. This feat needs more recognition from the fan-base. B-)

Get the files here: http://forums.maco64.com/topic/7185751/
Some additional character/map imports would be interesting. I have already imported Child Link and Kokiri Forest: http://forums.maco64.com/topic/7185753/

I also finally got around to updating forum signature images. They will now automatically be scaled if they have annoying heights. JabuJabule pointed this out a while back, but I didn't implement it until now.

2014 Maco64 Logo Contest

Posted by sylux102 (Moderator) at Apr 2 2014, 05:54 PM. 47 comments

Hello Maco64 Community! As you may have noticed, this forum has undergone quite a few major changes. Since the forum no longer caters to just Zelda64 ROM hacking, Flotonic and I have decided that the forum's logo should be changed to reflect the recent changes to the website. Rather than having a single member design one, it was decided that a contest would be started in order to allow all members an equal chance to contribute to the forum. So here are the rules and regulations of the 2014 Maco64 Logo Contest:

1.) The logo must contain "Maco" and it must be clearly visible.
2.) The logo must be related to the Legend of Zelda series in some way.
3.) The logo should be no larger than 500x500 pixels, and no smaller than 100x100 pixels.
4.) The logo may not contain any names or other words , except in the case of "Community" and the like.
5.) Do not include a year on the
6.) The logo should be in .png format and uploaded to some other online image hosting service.
7.) Have fun with it!

The contest will end May 31st. Each member may only enter two logos. If you would like a logo to be replaced, please indicate which entry you would like to replace and it will be taken care of. At the end of the contest, voting will begin. A new thread will be started and any existing entries will be placed in the new thread. Changing entries will not be allowed at that point. It is our hope that starting a contest such as this will allow others to feel a part of our community. Not everybody has the technical ability to easily ROM hack or code something. But everybody has access to an image editor and an online image search service. We hope to see some really cool and unique designs from all interested members here at Maco64!

OoT 2D 2014 Trailer and a new theme!

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Apr 1 2014, 01:01 PM. 17 comments

I have been away from Maco for a while. This is because I have been working on a new project based around an old idea: OoT 2D. The map used for Kokiri Forest was made by MaJoRa and GodsTurf has been a major help with graphics and testing.

The OoT 2D website theme is now in place for Maco, but all of the Maconians who prefer the old theme can select "Maco Classic" at the bottom of any page!

I haven't forgotten about Izou Zelda, but this is a good time to say that it is on hold until I can afford to pay an additional programmer to help remake OoT's base engine, as it is too much work for one person and it cannot be continued as a rom edit. Keep posting ideas, as it is a project that I definitely plan to get back to making!

Izou Zelda Patch One Release

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Nov 30 2013, 02:09 AM. 35 comments

Patch one of Izou Zelda is now available! It was finished and released by the end of this month, as promised!

Download it and read the credits here: http://izou.maco64.com/

This is a small step for Zelda fans, but a giant leap for Zelda fan kind!

Izou Zelda - Website Update

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Nov 12 2013, 04:34 AM. 0 comments

Everything on the Izou Website should now load more quickly. Other updates to the website include a section for news, using a YouTube Playlist for the videos, using Imgur for the screenshots, and a link to the ModBB page. Also, although some news pertaining to Izou Zelda will be posted on Maco's homepage, most will be posted only on the official website and here: http://forums.maco64.com/forum/3054195/

Thank you for your interest, Zelda fans! B-)

Slight Forum Updates

I haven't tested these features yet, but hopefully they work. Users can now manage blogs on their profiles and Private Messages Alerts show up. B-)

Custom Map Contest Voting

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Aug 11 2013, 12:31 PM. 5 comments

Many amazing maps were submitted for this contest, which seems to have helped many newcomers pick up a new skill and has helped many oldbies get some extra practice. While I look forward to the next contest, the submissions from this one are now in voting. They are listed in the order that they were submitted.

EDIT: This would be easier if YouTube videos could be embedded for polls. ^o)

The IRC Channel is back!

Posted by Flotonic (Admin) at Jul 28 2013, 01:04 AM. 0 comments

It never left, but most of the traffic came from the Mibbit widget that was embedded into a forum post, which stopped working once the forums were moved to ZetaBoards. It can now be accessed via this page: http://forums.maco64.com/pages/irc/

Clicking the Majora's Mask icon on each page also goes to the newly-added IRC page. Enjoy! :D

As some of you may know, I have left the rom editing scene, never to return. I will be attending UNL. I will also be getting a job, so I will not have the time to run a community and make all of these projects.

I'm leaving you all in good hands. Sylux102, one of the best Maco staff members, will be carrying on in my stead. His forums are on Zelda64.net. Register there, since this website is archive only.

As for OoT 2D and Izou, I will be leaving those in the hands of GodsTurf's team, Lunar World. If you are fans of these projects, subscribe to them.
